Brunch, Baby!

Is there anything more enjoyable than a late, (usually overpriced) breakfast with some great friends and a cute outfit? That’s what I thought.

Brunch outfits are interchangeable (obviously), depending on the location, the weather and the company.

In Australia right now, it’s starting to becoming chillier, so I’ve been opting for jumpers and jeans rather than a skirt and t-shirt as of late.

If I’m hanging out with a couple of friends and there’s not much planned for the day, I’ll usually keep my outfit pretty low-key. On a cold day, I might layer a coat/jacket over a hoodie with some jeans. If it’s a little bit more like spring weather, I’d probably wear a denim skirt and a jumper or turtleneck.

Honestly, you can’t go wrong with a favourite pair of jeans and a tight-fitting top, it fits almost every occasion and you’ll look GOOD.

I’ve found that wearing a dress to brunch can be risky business. It’s probably safest to stalk the cafe or restaurant a little bit, just to figure out what the dress code is.

Because brunch style, for me at least, is usually pretty basic, I like to include just one interesting element, I might layer a v-neck over a normal long sleeve (as pictured - photo from Pinterest) or wear a unique pattern to keep my style just a little bit exciting.

For summer weather, I’d go for a plain top and a skirt with one common colour so that it harmonises.

I have a beautiful long skirt from Urban Outfitters that has a slit up the side and has a black base colour and a small, delicate floral pattern of blues, reds and oranges which I wear with a black singlet top or t-shirt and red sandals or my black old school Vans.

Basically, brunch is low-key but that doesn’t mean there isn’t room for testing the boundaries and wearing something interesting and beautiful.
