All my favourite brands (brands, brands, brands)

My favourite brands. There are, without a doubt, too many to count, but for the purpose of this article, I’ll narrow it down to my top 5.
When deciding whether or not I’m a fan of a brand, I look at the inclusiveness of their products and advertising, the quality of the product and the range of styles.
1. Chanel
My favourite brand has to be Chanel, and given their growth in recent years, I have become an even bigger of a fan of it lately.
I am a huge supporter of their recent lines. I love how they’re spreading into more street style trends and ideas in many ways but their approach still remains stylish and classic. The designers know what works, but they are also willing to be daring. They have, in my opinion, mastered the perfect balance of movement and class.

The influence of Karl Lagerfeld is another reason why I love Chanel so much, his passion for fashion and style is so evident in every single article of clothing. If you have had the pleasure of watching the Chanel Haute Couture show for PFW in the Netflix Original, 7 Days Out, you’ll agree with me when I say: the way he treated his employees was a joy to watch. He spoke to everyone with kindness and compassion and even in the most stressful situations, he didn’t assert any level of mean-spirited superiority. I believe he was a truly lovely man.
2. Urban Outfitters
For a change of pace, my second favourite company is Urban Outfitters, for many reasons.
Unfortunately, here in Australia, the only option is ordering online if you want anything from this shop. However, I have had the pleasure of visiting the Milan and Paris Urban Outfitters stores and I can attest that they are just as magical as you would imagine them to be.
Personally, I’m a big fan of the business because from what I can tell, my values as a consumer are aligned with the company’s. I love that they reuse vintage clothes and make them more amicable with todays fashion trends and standards.
One more reason why I love Urban Outfitters as a brand is the fact that they have a huge range of clothes and no matter what aesthetic a consumer aims to achieve, they’ll most likely find it here.
3. Golf Wang
Created by Tyler the (funnily enough) Creator, Golf Wang/Golf le Fleur doubles as merchandise and a separate clothing line. His collaboration with Converse was enough to make the brand one of my favourites, but Golf Wang sells me even more.
I love how unapologetic and progressive the clothes are, they are completely gender neutral - which I’ll admit, for me personally isn’t fit for every occasion, but is still an admirable stance in relation to fashion stereotypes and norms.
I also love the statement made by the Save the Bees campaign. Because fashion is considered an art form for every designer and enthusiast, it’s rare, thankfully less so today’s day and age, to find a mix of style and global issue awareness in fashion, however there has been in the past. Personally, I appreciate the sentiment and I think it provides the push that the youth of today (his target demographic) needs to promote more change for our future on this planet.
4. Uncle Studios
Established by Allegra Shaw (who is so stylish and beautiful, just a side-note), Uncle Studios is a completely sustainable clothing brand which has emerged pretty recently. It’s based in Toronto and run by Allegra.
So far, the products available are mostly basics, but I appreciate the passion and effort put into creating the perfect basics for every season, such as turtlenecks, t-shirts and tunics.
I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, the perfect outfit is built upon the perfect basic piece and this is the perfect brand for that sentiment.
Allegra is one of the few creators that I am a loyal follower of because I love her passion for business and fashion and how progressively she styles herself and produces her brand. I’ll be following Uncle Studios for years to come and I’m really excited for the upcoming releases.
5. Ghanda Clothing
Finally, a local Australian brand that I believe is incredibly underrated. Based in Torquay, Victoria, Ghanda is a one-stop-shop for low-key and beachy clothing.
Their brand has been quite loyal to that idea since their emergence. However, as a consumer, I’ve recently noticed some more interesting and trendy changes in style and products.
I love finding and supporting local businesses with great quality and ethics and Ghanda fits the bill more than any other brand I’ve found in Australia in recent years.
There are so many other brands that I love but these are my top 5 for the moment, I also chose brands that suit different styles and budgets, but I have a huge love and appreciation for all of these companies on a business and fashion front.
